Brow Lamination

Brow lamination has gained popularity in recent years as a technique to achieve well-groomed and fuller-looking eyebrows. This article aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of brow lamination, including what it is and what it isn't, who it's for, the maintenance required, and what to expect during and after the procedure. Additionally, we will address the importance of after-care to protect the integrity of the hair.

What is Brow Lamination?

Brow lamination is a cosmetic treatment that helps shape and set the eyebrows in a desired position. It involves the use of specially formulated solutions to relax and manipulate the brow hairs, allowing them to be styled and fixed in a specific direction. The process helps to create a more uniform and defined eyebrow shape, making them appear fuller and more symmetrical.

What Brow Lamination Isn't:

It is important to note that brow lamination is not a permanent solution. The effects typically last for 4-8 weeks, depending on individual hair growth cycles and after-care. Brow lamination does not involve the use of hair extensions or implants. Instead, it focuses on enhancing the natural brows by manipulating the existing hair.

Who is lamination good for?

  • Those with unruly hair and desire to redirect the way the hair lays

  • Those who want to achieve a more polished and groomed look for their eyebrows

  • Those with thin or sparse brows to maximize each hair

  • Those who would like to simplify their brow routine

  • Those who would like a high impact and non invasive treatment that are considering semi permanent brows (microblading/nanoblading).

  • Those who would like to mask/camouflage fading PMU

  • Those with PMU, combined, the lamination can help your natural brow hair compliment the PMU

Who can't get laminated?

Clients using any form of retinoids, prescription skincare actives, and/or acne medication are not eligible for brow lamination. Please wait a minimum of 30 days after receiving any medium level exfoliation treatments like chemical peels or microneedling, microblading or any form of eyebrow tattooing before getting this treatment.

Those with active skin conditions in the immediate brow area: psoriasis, excema, cystic acne, recent burn or skin treatments like laser

Those who have done henna brows withe the last 4 weeks

Those experiencing hormonal changes or hair loss due to pregnancy, birth control, stress, or surgery may not be ideal candidates for lamination, as the chemicals used may cause brittleness or premature shedding of the brow hair. I recommend coming in for a patch test and consultation if you are unsure if you are a candidate.

Those who are pregnant or nursing.

Please note:

  • extremely coarse, dry brows can be difficult to laminate and may kink from the service

  • Fresh out of the studio, your brows will look glossy and sleek. This is short lived and from the treatment serum that is used at the end of the service. After time they will soften up, but if you love that glossy look, apply the provided serum or a brow gel.

  • typically lasts a range from 4-8 weeks and needs a minimum of 6 weeks before repeating the service

  • it is normal to experience slight redness or sensitivity around the brow area immediately after the procedure, but this should subside within a few hours.

AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS:

  • For 24 hours after the treatment, dry and brush your brows if they get wet. Try to avoid chlorine or steam. If possible, avoid applying any heavy make up around the brow

  • Brush and style as required

  • Apply provided serum daily until done

  • Do not sleep with your face in the pillow.

  • Reduce rubbing as much as possible with hands or hats etc.

  • Avoid face scrubs, peelings, and cleansers, especially first week

  • Use conditioner/brow treatment in brows

Scheduling regular touch-up appointments for brow lamination is important for several reasons:

1. Maintain the desired shape: Over time, the brow hairs may start to grow out of the desired shape and lose their defined appearance. Regular touch-ups allow the brow technician to trim, shape, and reposition the hairs to maintain the desired shape and symmetry. This helps ensure that your eyebrows continue to look groomed and well-defined.

2. Address regrowth and new hair growth: As your natural brow hairs grow, they may start to disrupt the lamination effect. Regular touch-ups allow the technician to address any regrowth or new hair growth by reapplying the lamination solution and fixing the hairs in place. This ensures that the lamination effect remains consistent and the brows continue to look polished.

3. Refresh the color: If you opted for tinting during the initial brow lamination procedure, the color may start to fade over time. Regular touch-ups provide an opportunity to refresh the color and enhance the overall appearance of the brows. The technician can tint the hairs to match your desired color and fill in any sparse areas for a more defined look.

4. Evaluate and adjust the treatment: During touch-up appointments, the brow technician can assess how well the initial brow lamination treatment has held up and make any necessary adjustments. They can address any areas that may have experienced less lamination or areas that may require additional shaping. This ensures that you continue to achieve optimal results from the procedure.

5. Longevity of results: The effects of brow lamination typically last for 4-8 weeks, depending on individual hair growth cycles. Regular touch-ups help prolong the longevity of the results by maintaining the lamination effect and addressing any potential issues before they become more noticeable. By keeping up with touch-up appointments, you can enjoy well-groomed and defined eyebrows for a longer period of time.

Overall, scheduling regular touch-up appointments for brow lamination allows for the maintenance and upkeep of the desired shape, addresses regrowth and new hair growth, refreshes the color, evaluates and adjusts the treatment, and extends the longevity of the results. It ensures that your eyebrows continue to look their best and that you get the most out of your brow lamination experience.
